About Dachshund Friends

My name is Kathryn and I have been a proud owner of my dachshund boy called Rocky since 2018. As any dachshund owner will know, once they have captured your heart, they soon take over your life! I wanted to create a blog to celebrate my own love of the breed but that can also be a space for new dachshund owners, as well as sausage dog enthusiasts to learn more about the quirks of the breed. I have personally done an extensive amount of research into the breed (when I was looking to become an owner) and have loads of my own experience to share from the last few years of owning one of these lovely dogs.

If, like me, you love dachshunds, this is the place to be! I will also share information about the breed, learnings from the first few years of owning a dachshund, tips on choosing a dog, great products for your dog, places to visit with your dachshund - or other dog friends, we are not biased here.

While i’m not a veterinarian or a qualified dog trainer or behaviourist, I am passionate about sharing what I've learned though research and personal experience of owning a dachshund. If in doubt, please check with your veterinarian to get recommendations for your dog.
